About Our Trainers About Our Trainers
All Hahana Stone Massage trainers have completed the "therapist-style" Stone Therapy/Hot Stone Massage training course with Philip (the founder), as well attending an intensive five-day "Train the Trainer" workshop at our head office in Queensland.

The experience gained by performing treatments as practising therapists, combined with the invaluable knowledge passed on during the "Train the Trainer" workshop, has equipped all of our trainers with the necessary skills to teach this truly unique style of Stone Therapy/Hot Stone Massage. All have completed (or are in the process of completing) a Certificate IV in Assessment & Training.

International Training & Queensland (Sunshine Coast) - Philip Cook - Founder

Philip was introduced to massage at a young age through various sporting activities. He began his studies in the summer of 1996 with short courses in Sports Massage and Reiki, to 'test the water' of the growing natural therapies industry. These initial studies lead him to an inner realisation that healing was his chosen path.

After completing a one-year Certificate IV in Oriental Massage at the Australian College of Natural Medicine (Brisbane), Philip decided to pursue his interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). An internship at Guangxi TCM University in Nanning (China) in early 2002 saw the completion of a total of five years study, and Philip graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture).

Having been bitten by the 'travel bug', Philip decided to put his acupuncture on hold and combine working as a massage therapist (as he had done during his studies) with seeing the world. This was made possible after he gained employment in the Day Spa aboard the 6-star cruise ship 'Crystal Harmony'. It was during the intensive training in London, prior to boarding the ship, that Philip was first trained in various Spa treatments, including Hot Stone Massage.

The next eight and a half months saw Philip working 12 hour days, 6 days a week, specialising in Hot Stone Massage. He was appointed the responsibility of training new staff members in what had fast become his preferred style of massage. At the conclusion of his contract, Philip returned to Australia and continued working and training staff at Day Spas located in Brisbane.

Demand for training and products quickly grew both locally and interstate and Philip decided to focus full-time on developing this unique style of massage. By mid 2004, Hahana Stone Massage was already well established as a treatment in Spas and Salons all along the east-coast of Australia. Although Philip does still facilitate many training sessions and weekend workshops, he will usually be the first point-of-contact for those interested in finding out more about Hahana Stone Massage.

Annie has worked as a trainer (which included authoring numerous training manuals) and manager for several Spas across South-East Queensland, and has also been actively involved in the creation/re-creation, of several other Spas (including The Retreat Spa on Hayman Island; the Fernwood Women’s Day Spa in Toowoomba; and, Bodywize in Brisbane). As with most therapists, Lauren has picked up many of her skills while working in various salons, sharing knowledge with other therapists. With massage (and in particular Hot Stone Massage) being one of her favorite treatments, it was an obvious progression to become a Hahana Stone Massage trainer. Lauren is also the director of her own salon, Lauren Murcia Skin Body & Soul, located in Double Bay.
